Still Crazy Goat Farm
The Buchanan family has been raising goats for 20 years in Maxeys. Ms. Robbie has 25 goats on the farm. Many of them have won championship accolades and continue to show at the highest level. This tour allows for you to mix it up with these wonderful creatures in their element. Depending on the season, you may see a few newly born kids romping around, and it may be that you can milk one of them yourself.

Beech Hollow Wildflower Farm
Beech Hollow farms is the culmination of a nearly decade long mission to save and propagate plants from the metro Atlanta area threatened by development and invasive species. The original idea was inspired by an area of southwest Atlanta strewn with large boulders and peppered with native plant species known locally as Boat Rock. Popular with rock climbers, the area had been mostly spared the developer’s bulldozer blade until the housing boom of the 1990’s and 2000’s slowly crept its way. The Southeast Climber’s Coalition (SCC) established a small woodland climbing preserve in 2002, but the surrounding area was still subject to the whims of land developers.

Kettle Creek Revolutionary War Battlefield
Kettle Creek BattlefieldOne of the most important battles of the American Revolutionary War to be fought in Georgia occurred in Wilkes County, some 12 miles from present-day Washington, Georgia. Here on February 14, 1779, a force of 400 patriots, in a surprise attack, defeated a force of Loyalists twice their number. Savannah, Georgia, had recently been captured by the British on December 29, 1778, as part of the British “southern strategy” to pacify the South and separate it from the Middle and Northern rebellious colonies. Southern Loyalists welcomed the British arrival, while Southern patriots began to prepare for battle. Lieutenant Colonel Archibald Campbell, captured Savannah for the British with 3,500 men, soon came under the command of Brigadier General Augustine Prevost. Savannah had been defended by the American General Andrew Williamson from South Carolina, but he withdrew from the city when Campbell approached, fighting a rear-guard action with his roughly 1,000 Georgian and South Carolinian militia men.
